Laloo Prasad Yadav Pass ho Gaye 'Almost'...

Laloo Prasad Yadav is a name that needs no introduction. There is little doubt that this Indian railway minister casts a unique figure in the hurly-burly of Indian politics. Be it his hair, his dialect, the style in which he celebrates festivals everything makes a headline. His humility and wit charms all and sundry; even Shah Rukh Khan couldn't escape Laloo Prasad Yadav's Charismatic charm as he graces Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? grand Finale as a contestant.

This Sunday is sure to be a laughter riot with Shah Rukh's witty humor and Laloo's repartees. This Railway minister who turned around the financial report card on the Indian Railways in the last 55 years couldn't recall names of all his kids together in a family photograph. It's it funny? Or The rail minister giving Shah Rukh Khan recipe to make Indian desert 'sattu' and then offering to make it for Shah Rukh at his place at 'Mannat', speaks about the instant rapport that the duo struck on the show.

Straight from the shoot: - Laloo looked nervous when he entered the set. He said it feels back to school with this atmosphere and the class modeled set. But when SRK took him through the show format, Laloo opened up and suddenly his energy rubbed onto everybody around; the host, the classmates and the audience. On being quizzed about his younger days, Laloo revealed he was handsome; he had black hair then. Shah Rukh complimented on his style, said that his hairstyle is very popular.

Laloo answered all the questions like rapid fire and turned out to be a very intelligent student in Shgah Rukh's classroom. Shah Rukh insisted that he should be called 'Laloo encyclopedia' . Apart from quizzing and serious deliberations over some of the questions Shah Rukh also indulged in playing naughty with Laloo. He questioned Laloo on his romantic quotient and asked him the most romantic thing that he did for his wife, Rabri Devi. "Rabri to khud hi rabri Jaisi hai", replied a shy Laloo. SRK also made Laloo groove to Chaiyya Chaiyya. He jokingly said he agreed to do this song only for the betterment of Railways. Laloo showed his singing talent; sang a HOLI song for everybody in the audience. He also very emotionally ended the episode by reciting Saare Jahaan se Acchaa Hindustan hamaraa…. He will be donating the amount won on the show to Railway minister's relief fund.

He came, He played and he conquered hearts…

Meet Priyanka and Harman in Paanchvi Pass...

As Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass se Tez Hain? reaches its finale week, the list of celebrities on the show get bigger and wilder. This Saturday, watch the cutest and the hottest couple of the tinsel town, Priyanka and Harman grace Shah Rukh Ki Pathshala.

Shah Rukh extended a warm welcome to the Bollywood’s most recent debutant Harman. Accompanied by Priyanka, the twosome looked like angels. They appeared so much in love and so smitten that couldn’t take their eyes off each other. They kept seeking each other’s consensus over every question but wouldn’t agree to any of the answers. They had cute arguments over what answers to fix and what could be the correct answers. After rounds of bickering, Shah Rukh actually awarded them with the title of ‘Most confused couple’. He also quizzed them about their relationship and the chemistry they share. When asked Harman about his idea of romance, he promptly replied, “A girl with red hair works” hinting at Priyanka’s look in Love Story 2050.

On showing their childhood pictures, Priyanka blatantly denied they were hers whereas she found Harman very cute as a baby. The couple also recalled their days as students; Priyanka says she was a very good student while Harman confessed that he was more inclined towards sports and was an average student.

Amidst their pyar-takraar and round of challenging questions and answers, the couple enjoyed themselves thoroughly with the kids. They taught them some steps from their song Milo Na Milo from Love Story 2050.

Fastest Player Ever in Paanchvi Pass....

his Sunday’s episode of Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? promises to be a sure entertainer!!! The participants here haven’t gone through the usual grind of stringent auditions and screening sessions. They have come in through a direct entry mechanism via the ‘Airtel Skip The Gun Contest’ which allowed few lucky Airtel users to participate in the show directly.

This Airtel Special episode saw the fastest playing contestant as he confidently scaled the money ladder and, of course, the contestants getting a dose of Professor Shah Rukh’s pungent humour, whacky one liners and evil laughter!!! What more can you ask for?

The first Airtel special contestant for the day was Naresh Rai Saxena, a senior secondary school’s director, from Kota. He slowly climbs the money ladder with the help from the kids for the simplest of Fifth Grader Questions. His ignorance on whether Dolphins sleep with an eye open, made him fall prey to Shah Rukh’s tongue-firmly-in-cheek (and one eye firmly closed) comments providing for some interesting banter between the two. Shah Rukh even offered to go swimming with him to see if dolphins really sleep with an eye closed. Will he be able to win enough to realize his dreams of opening a girl’s college?

The next contestant for the day was Vibhor Badoni, a civil services student, from Dehradun. Vibhor was aware that this special episode will not have any rollover contestant so he ensured that he didn’t waste any time and focused on the questions, tried to get each answer right quickly and win as much as possible. His remarkable speed and comprehensive analytical reasoning even took Shah Rukh by surprise. So impressed was Shah Rukh that he tells Vibhor; “I’ve never had as mush fun with any contestant so far as I’ve had in quizzing you.” He outdid all previous contestants in speed and accuracy and proved to be the fastest playing contestant till date on the show. Will he be able to outwit the Fifth Graders and take away Rupees five crores to fulfill his dreams?

To know this and see more fun-filled moments, watch Airtel Special episode of Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? Sunday, June 15 only on Star Plus!!

Hiten and Gauri Tejwani on Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?

Following the Bidaai girls Parul and Sara, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? witnessed television's most adored and popular couple Hiten and Gauri Tejwani taking center stage to answer the exam along with Shahrukh Khan.

The host, Shahrukh Khan, welcomed Gauri and Hiten as one of Indian television’s most loved and popular couple. In fact, he honored the two by stating, “I have heard that Gauri and Hiten are compared to Kajol and my jodi. But henceforth, it would be an honor for me if people said that Kajol and I are a couple like Hiten and Gauri.” Gauri and Hiten were floored with Shahrukh’s praise as they say, “It was such a great honor for us to receive such a compliment from King Khan himself. He is a fabulous actor and anoutstanding host.”

When asked about the experience of playing the game, the couple said, “The game is very interesting. It was great fun playing the game with Shahrukh and he made us feel very comfortable on the sets. Initially we were quite nervous but as the game progressed, Shahrukh was so friendly and nice, that we forgot we were on the sets and just had fun." Gauri and Hiten
performed well in the exam, going ahead to win Rs. 20, 00, 000 to be donated to the charity organization Rayon. To support the couple, were present the Viraani family members
including Baa (Sudha Shivpuri), Reshmi Ghosh, Mouni Roy and Manav Vij. The highlight of the episode was Baa dancing with SRK on stage to the tuneof Dard-E- Disco.

When asked if the couple felt if they were smarter than a fifth grader, Gauri confidently replied, “Yes, to a certain extent I am, as I think I would have been able to answer most of the questions asked without any help.” Hiten on the other hand, was not quite sure as he said, “Honestly, I would be able to answer only two or three questions without help. But truly, who can actually
say they are smarter than a fifth grader? Can you? No ways!!! So how can I say I am smarter than a fifth grader?”

Well, the couple is sure candid when it comes to their smartness, aren't they?

Bidaai Girls At Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Sa tez hai

SRK’s Paanchvi Pass has a special line up of television celebrities on the show. This Sunday, the audience will witness the two most loved sisters of Indian television Parul Chauhan and Sara Khan of Bidaai of Bidaai answering the Paanchvi Pass exam with Shahrukh Khan in the first half, followed by television’s popular couple Hiten and Gauri Tejwani.

Both the girls were very excited as well as nervous to meet King Khan as they say, “Shahrukh is an outstanding host. We had the best time of our life with him shooting for Paanchvi Pass. Initially, we were very nervous. If you are going to be with Shahrukh Khan, who wouldn’t be
nervous? But he was so sweet and made us feel so comfortable and at ease thatwe just enjoyed ourselves.”

The girls were in such awe of Shahrukh Khan, that they were completely bowled over in the first question itself. However, SRK came to the rescue as he dropped many hints to both the girls as they veered away from the right answer. The cast of Bidaai including Alok Nath, Vibha Chibber, Kinshuk Mahajan, Ashita Dhawan, Sonia, Shabaana Mullani, Naveen Saini were present on the sets to support the two favorite daughters of the show.

The girls played in the true sprit of the game and won an amount of Rs 10, 00,000, which is to be donated as charity to HelpAge India. However, winning or losing did not really matter for the girls, as much as sharing the limelight with King Khan. Getting the opportunity to shake a leg
with him and giving him a peck on the cheeks had both the girls ecstatic. As Parul says, “I am a die hard fan of Shahrukh Khan. I have not missed a single movie of his until date. In fact, I have watched Kal Ho Na Ho nearly 25 times. It was truly a memorable moment for me to dance with him on stage.” Sara adds, “It was great. I had asked him backstage if I could kiss him and dance with him and he actually agreed. In fact, I almost fainted when he said I could kiss him on
stage. It was awesome for me.”

Although the girls won a god sum, at the end of the game, they did confess that all said and done,
they are not smarter than a fifth grader!!!

Catch the excitement on Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? with Sara Khan and Parul Chauhan on 11th May at 8 PM only on Star Plus!!!

The question has been displayed on the screen and asked by Headmaster Shah Rukh Khan. As the contestant looks on with a blank expression in the quest to find an answer to this question from his memory, Bang!!!... goes the buzzer!!! It has been answered by the confident 9-year-old wonder standing beside her and smiling menacingly.

How did that kid manage

it? The contestant's expression at the sound of the buzzer is a mixture of surprise and disgust on being embarrassed by a kid's intelligence. As time passes, she realizes that she is unsure of the answer. She has an option to cheat by taking the help of the kid standing beside her. But her ego on being a well educated headstrong adult stops her from doing it. She risks answering the question at the strength of her own knowledge and presses the buzzer…………

Also, the Fifth Grade classmates give all participants a run for their money, literally!! After a writer, a ticket checker, and many other individuals from various walks of life take the examination marked with many nail biting and embarrassing moments. winning Rs Five crores. .

Not convinced of the intelligence exuded by her classmates on the show, she goes on to play on the strength of her knowledge without using her cheats. Dr. Satyabala Kolengat Dmonty, a 38-year-old eye surgeon from the army follows suit. She slowly climbs up the money ladder with confidence in her own capabilities and sheer underestimation of the intelligence of 9-year-old Fifth Graders taking the test with her.

Will they both survive

the game with just the confidence of their own knowledge and capabilities? How many questions will they make it through? How much will they manage to win without using a cheat?

Panchvi Paas: A Curtain Raiser

Panchvi Paas: A Curtain Raiser

SRK begins his second season of hosting with the quiz show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? The phone lines have been opened while the actual shooting begins on April 4. The show is expected to start by the end of April.

A source from the channel informs us, “According to the schedule, we will begin shooting on April 4 and right now there is no change in it. The first promos of questions go on air from March 4. The shooting will take place in the same studio, Film City, where KBC 3 was shot.”

Adds the source, “There will be a panel of 5 kids, which will be chosen through auditions. The kids have to download and fill up forms for the same. The procedure will end by this month.”

Format of the show

The contestants have to answers questions from Maths, Social Studies, General Science and Language. The questions will be in the range of 1st to 5th standard. The contestant will be offered a card of 10 subjects from which they have to select subjects as per their convenience. Every correct answer will help contestants earn prize money.

Further, the contestants can use three ‘cheat’ facilities provided to them. These cheats involve a group of children who will be the contestants’ classmates and can answers the questions. Every two correct answers will add one more kid in that group.

The three cheats are Copy, Peek and Save. In Copy, the contestant can copy the current teammate’s answer to the question. Peek means the contestant can review his teammate’s answer before submitting his. Save cheat is triggered automatically if the person gives a wrong answer and his partner has given correct answer. The contestant is then saved.

Finally, if the contestant decides to quit the show even after using his cheats he/she will have to say, “I am not smarter than a 5th grader.”

Synergy Adlabs and Bulldog Media are producing the show in India. The concept has been implemented successfully in 50 countries across the world.

Kya aapko Paanchvi Paas malum hai?

Here’s everything you need and ought to know about the quiz show.

'Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hai' is based on the international Mark Burnett format 'Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader', where grade school level questions are put to adults from all walks of life. The format is a rave in 50 countries worwide currently.

'Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hai' will witness Shahrukh Khan act as a teacher of class five where adult contestants will be asked ten questions from grade level one to five, the right answers to which would entitle them to a mammoth prize money of Rs 5 crore. From the look of it, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain is an intelligent show in terms of content and the actor host.

So how will this be different from Big B’s or King Khan’s version of, let’s say, KBC for that matter?

The first is that this has the biggest prize money — Rs 5 crore — which has ever been offered on Indian television. Secondly, the contestants will be judged on the basis of their knowledge from a fifth class student’s textbooks. Most of us feel more enlightened than fifth class students and dismiss what their books have to offer. If the contestant wants to quit the game at any stage, he or she will have to confess, main paanchvi pass se tez nahin hoon. This show is also an attempt to bring the family together before the TV around dinner time and is already being touted as the most exciting and ambitious TV show in India.

The Rules of the Game

Each game is played by an individual contestant, who is presented with the chance to win up to Rupees 5 Crore by answering questions taken from the syllabus of a fifth grade level or lower. The contestant is presented with 10 subject cards, which he may answer in the order of his choice. Each correct answer moves the contestant higher up the ladder of money values. If a contestant answers all 10 questions correctly, he is given the chance to answer an 11th question which on answering correctly will get him Rupees 5 Crore. Each time a question is answered, the contestant must ‘confirm’ the answer by saying it out loud. As each new question is read, the contestant is given the option to drop out with the amount of money currently in his bank. If the contestant chooses to answer the question, but gives the wrong answer, he walks away with nothing (during questions 1-5) or with Rs. 200000 (question 6 or later).

The above mechanism varies on the 11th question, if the contestant should reach it. The 11th question is drawn from a separate pool of five fifth-grade questions. However, unlike previous questions, the contestant must commit to answering or walking away, based on subject alone—he will not be allowed to hear the question before making his decision.

Cheats

The contestant is also provided three cheats to use over the course of the round. All of these cheats involve his classmates, which is a group of children seated on stage who are answering the same questions as the contestant. Every two questions, a new classmate joins the contestant and becomes his teammate for those two questions. The contestant can use his cheats at any time during the first 10 questions.

Three lifelines

Taank Jhaank: Here, the contestant has the opportunity to review his current teammate’s answer before submitting his own.
Nakal: Here, the contestant may opt not to answer the question at all, but rather, let his current teammate answer for him. Unlike the ‘copy your classmate’ cheat, in this instance, the contestant may not reject his teammate’s answer, but is stuck with it.
Bachao: This cheat is triggered automatically if the contestant gives a wrong answer. If the contestant’s current partner turns out to have the correct answer, the contestant is then saved. The only instance in which two cheats can be used on the same question is if the contestant opts for Taank Jhaank, rejects the kid’s correct answer, gives a wrong answer himself, and is then saved by the kid. Other than this one scenario, the cheats must necessarily be used individually.

The twist in the game

If the contestant makes it to the 11th and final question, he must tackle that question without help, even if he has not used his cheats.
Upon leaving the game either by quitting, or answering incorrectly, the contestant must profess to the camera, “I’m not smarter than a fifth grader.” While the kids will have fun watching the elders admitting that they are not smarter than a fifth grader; elders will be put to a lot of embarrassment.

A Money-Spinning Show

Slated to be aired on Star Plus from April 18, the quiz show is already magnetising advertisers. The brands in the queue as associate sponsors, who will spend upto Rs 10 crore, include PepsiCo India, LG Electronics,General Motors and Cadbury. Indian telecom giant Airtel has offered about Rs 40 crore as pesenting sponsor for the quiz show. The 36 episode show will have around 700 to 800 seconds of commercial time per episode. Around 10-15 per cent of the 700-800 seconds will be sold as spot buys.
Besides, the Star Plus is also expecting revenue of over Rs 18 crore from mobile and landline calls and through SMSes for the show. The Call rates will be around Rs 4 per landline call and Rs 6 for mobiles. The amount is higher than the Rs 10-12 crore which the channel earned during Kaun Banega Karorepati (KBC) last year.

SRK ‘Riding’ on his IPL dream

SRK ‘Riding’ on his IPL dream

Shah Rukh Khan seems to be taking his newly acquired role as the franchisee of IPL’s Kolkata Knight Riders so seriously that his first love acting has taken a backseat for the moment. SRK has postponed the shooting of Dulha Mil Gaya tentatively to June.
He will begin shooting for Yash Raj’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in May and before that he will only be shooting for Paanchvi Paas.

A source close to SRK told us, “Yes SRK is focussing totally on his IPL venture right now so he taking a short break from films. He will be personally present at all the matches of Knight Riders. Only after the tournament gets over will he begin concentrating totally on films again.”

The King Khan is presently trying his best to make sure that the banned Shoaib Akhtar gets a chance to play in IPL. “Shah Rukh believes that Shoaib is one of the trump cards of the team and hence is going out of his way to try and see if Shoaib can somehow be part of the team,” adds the source.

“SRK is also heavily involved in the strategizing of the team. He, along with Sourav Ganguly, Chris Gayle and the others will combine to try and keep the team ahead of the others. Shah Rukh has even said that if the time comes, he will also bowl for the team! What’s more, the King Khan will act as the team’s 12h man and carry drinks on the field. He will also perform at the interval between the matches, “the source further reveals.

“Shah Rukh seems to have really taken to the 20:20 format of the game. He was even present in SA to cheer on the Indian team at the World Cup finals against Pakistan which we won so no surprise that he is taking so much interest in the IPL. Sometime back the BCCI had pulled up SRK saying he was promoting his films at cricket matches but that is a thing of the past now,” concludes the source.

Well, Chak De India really seems to have inspired SRK. The big difference being that instead of the hockey stick he is wielding the willow.

About The Show

Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai? is a studio-based game show in which succeeding contestants compete for a large sum of money by attempting to answer questions taken from primary school class materials. The format outlined below is how the show works.

Game Play Each round is played by an individual contestant, who is presented with the chance to win up to Rs 5 crores by answering 11 questions taken from class materials (e.g. textbooks or workbooks) of first to fifth class.

The contestant is presented with 10 subject cards, which he may answer in the order of his choice. Each correct answer moves the contestant higher up the ladder of rupee value. If a contestant answers all 10 questions correctly, he is given a chance to answer an 11th question for Rs 5 crores.

Each time a question is answered, the contestant must "lock in" the answer by saying it out loud and pressing a buzzer.

As each new question is read, the contestant is given the option to drop out with the amount of money currently in his bank. If the contestant chooses to answer the question, but gives the wrong answer, he walks away with nothing (during questions 1-5) or with Rs. 2, 00,000 (value of question 5).

The above mechanism varies on the 11th question, if the contestant should reach it. The 11th question is drawn from a separate pool of class five questions. Unlike previous questions, the contestant must commit to answering or walking away based on the subject alone. He or she will not be allowed to hear the question before making this decision.

The contestant also has three lifelines called cheats to use over the course of a round. All these cheats involve his classmates, which is a group of children seated on stage who are answering the same questions as the contestant. Every two questions, a new classmate joins the contestant and becomes his teammate for those two questions. The contestant can use his cheats at any time during the first 10 questions.

Cheats The first cheat is called Taak Jhaak, which means that the contestant has the opportunity to review his current teammate's answer before submitting his own.

The second cheat is Copy, in which the contestant may opt not to answer the question at all, but rather, let his current teammate answer for him. Unlike the "copy your classmate" cheat, in this instance, the contestant cannot reject his teammate's answer, but is stuck with it.

The final cheat is Bachao. This cheat is triggered automatically if the contestant gives a wrong answer. If the contestant's current partner turns out to have the correct answer, the contestant is then saved.

The only instance in which two cheats can be used on the same question is if the contestant chooses Taak Jhaak, rejects the kid's correct answer, gives a wrong answer himself, and is then saved by the kid. Other than this one scenario, the cheats must necessarily be used individually.

Once all three cheats have been used, the kids will stay in the "class" and no longer join the contestant at the podium.

If the contestant makes it to the 11th and final question, he must tackle that question without help, even if he has not used his cheats.

International Performance The format was originally created in the U.S and has been adapted in several countries worldwide.
